Friday Find :: NYC {Broadway Bites 2014}
Much like the deliciousness that was Madison Square Eats, Broadway Bites is another summer pop-up outdoor culinary market full of great NYC restaurant vendors. Broadway Bites is set up in midtown for a good portion of the summer - thought August 1, 2014 - at Greeley Square Park at 33rd St. and Broadway.
Great food and booze vendors from around NYC converge in this fleeting culinary market. From tacos of all kinds, to gourmet hot dogs, meatballs and classic lobster rolls – there’s a whole lot of deliciousness at Broadway Bites. Try the interesting tacos from Jicima California Street Food (I had the vegetarian roasted corn and the chicken chorizo, which were both very good!), grab a craft beer on tap at Nunu Beers & Scoops (the Ommegang Witte is among my husband's favorites) or a glass of their frozen white wine sangria, which will make waiting for a table less painful. There is seating, but you have to be quick to nab a table and chairs; the tall bar tables (sans chairs) are easier to come by.
Other highlights from Broadway Bites include: Moroccan Mint Organic Draft Kombucha on tap at Two Tablespoons (their lentil salad is good too), chocolate babka from Breads Bakery (voted best chocolate babka in NYC by NY Magazine), the "triple threat" macaron ice cream sandwich from the Macaron Parlour (not available in their regular NYC stores - I haven't had a chance to try it but I have heard great things so its on my short list for my next Broadway Bites run), fried pickles from Mason Jar and the always delicious cookies ice cream sandwiches from Melt.
For a complete list of vendors visit Urban Space NYC (scroll to the bottom of the page and you can search by cuisine); most vendors are cash only so hit the ATM before you go (there is an ATM on site); open 6/3-8/1/14 daily from 11am-9pm; directions available on Urban Space NYC.
