I've always loved the spice combo on everything bagels. So much flavor and a nice crunchy texture from the seeds and large salt grains. I was excited to discover
Bagel Spice - a combo of the spices used for an everything bagel (poppy seeds, sesame seeds, onion, garlic, caraway seeds and coarse sea salt). I contemplated making my own "everything bagel" spice mix, but for the price ($4.99/ 2.5 oz.) and the free shipping promo offered on all orders it isn't worth buying all those spices and making a big batch, though I may make them as holiday gifts or brunch favors down the line. I like the Bagel Spice with sea salt flakes but they offer
several varieties for those who watch their sodium intake.
So far, I've used Bagel Spice sprinkled on English muffins with cream cheese, I've coated a log of goat cheese in the spice mixture and served it on a cheese board and stuffed chicken breasts with the leftover everything-spiced goat cheese. A friend of mine uses the everything spice mixture in eggs, which sounds good to me too.
Bagel Spice would be a nice addition to a breakfast theme gift basket or hostess gift. It would also make a great stocking stuffer for an everything bagel fan so keep it in mind for the holidays.
Have you tried Bagel Spice? What's your favorite way to use it?
